Avoid being Scammed

Another Scamming Email.

Phishing Email from Wise , well supposedly.

I received another phishing email this week from Wise.  Not one I had seen before.  It claims to be from Wise the money app people but its fake.   Wise is a bit like PayPal I suppose it allows you to transfer money around the globe in various currencies.  So its an international money transfer app for your phone, tablet or PC.

In the case of this email it is from “hansjonkers@jotel.co.rs” doesn’t sound much like Wise to me.  It is also designed to put a sense of urgent-ness in to you by saying ACTIVATE NOW and needs to be done by a set date.  They just want you to try and login.  They grab your email address and password, they can then try that on lots of other sites.

If you receive it just ignore it, delete it and get on with your day.

You can report the scam email to the National Cyber Security Centre.  Every one reported is a good thing.  Email address is:  report@phishing.gov.uk

Fake Amazon Text Message.

Beware: Fake Amazon Recall.

Just to keep you on the ball.  I received a text message yesterday, nothing new but this was a Scam text I hadn’t seen before.  A photo of it is below.  It was saying that something I had purchased months ago had been recalled for safety reasons. It said I should follow the link and instructions to arrange for a refund.

The link to follow was https://shorturl.at/vnsN9?uu=3aGaZMfv As you can see it has nothing to do with Amazon. Surprise surprise if you follow the link it takes you to a fake Amazon page asking for you to log in and provide your email address and password.

BINGO !!  They have your details and can access your account. What should you do ? Just delete it and forget about it.
