Driver & Vehicle Licencing Scam.

I received yet another scam email to my mailbox today.  My reason for sharing it is that its something that many of us could receive.  When I viewed it on my phone it looked a lot more convincing than when viewed on my PC.

The email informs you that you have successfully created an account with DVLA and that their records show that your vehicle tax is due for renewal (form v12).  To avoid penalties you should renew asap.

Well the V12 form does not exist.  Its actually a V112 and its to do with Road Tax Exemption.  There is a link to click on to Renew.  See the screen shots below.  The second screen shot shows the email address it has come from, as you can see below it has nothing to do with the DVLA

” ph3s2xro0x5a@leigulistinn.is “

The link provided takes you to a complete bogus website that asks for all you personal details. Name, Address, DOB, credit or debit card details.

Internet Security is unlikely to protect you from this type of scam.  Being aware and on the ball is your first and best line of defence.  If you unfortunately follow this or any other scam email the first thing to do is immediately inform your bank using the phone number on the back of your credit or debit card and inform them of what has happened.
